CIG Plot Analysis

Leah Puro, Wolfe’s Neck Center Agricultural Research Coordinator, and Rick Kersbergen, University of Maine Cooperative Extension Professor, go through a test plot of warm seasonal annuals planted in June. This study was made possible through a Conservation Innovation Grant (CIG) from the NRCS to assess how warm season annuals could be integrated into a dairy grazing system in the Northeast. The plot includes Japanese millet, Boyd soybean, tillage radish, and sorghum. Rick discusses the different forages, why they’re important in a dairy system, and how they can be used in Northeast climates.
